Mondrian hated green colour. He thought it was too obviousconnection to nature which didn´t go with De Stijl´s theories about decomposating nature into “pure colours and forms”.
With De Stijl theory in mind I decided to make some sort of a 3D “painting” that could also be a shelf system.
Then I did a little experiment. I painted the shelves in green tones. Mondrian was right. My square De Stijl-shelf had turned into a crown of a tree!
Tree can store all sorts of small objects and you can even hide them in the “leaves”. (2004)
